I just keep thinking that Lauryn Hill would have killed this role.
Maybe even Anika Rose.

I think that when you plan on tackling the life of Nina Simone on screen, you have to be careful. She has a very specific story and she was bigger than life. She said herself she wanted Whoopi to play her, which tells you where her leanings were. Her daughter is upset with the choice of Zoe and with the fact that the story is not factual. And on top of not looking like Nina, she is a very average actress. She doesn't have the chops |
All of this. There is absolutely no upside to Zoe playing her.

this is all speculation. but what if viola davis turned the role down? what if halle turned the role down? what if zoe had the best audition? we haven't even seen a trailer or seen the movie and people are already calling for the film to stop production. i'm certain this will be a good film and zoe will do nina simone justice. if she doesn't i will kindly eat my crow.

but the story isn't REAL! im more upset about that! fake story, fake actress. maybe this is a joke...like when Joaquin Phoenix pretended he was making some movie.
