Right, because the purpose doesn't matter.

A medical reason is a medical reason...doesn't matter if that's because of a car accident or a c-section.

A non-medical reason is a non-medical reason...doesn't matter if it's bonding with your baby or bonding with yourself at a meditation retreat.

Man your kids, people who were smarter with their lives and decided against breeding shouldn't have less just so you can bond with some alien like thing, drop the mofo off at a baby sitter and get your ass back to work.

this reminds me of an article I was reading yesterday saying childless should pay even higher taxes  to take some of burden off parents and give children a better start. Also to offset the injustice.

I had to check the date on article to make sure it wasn't April 1/fools day. But it was dated Mar31

some parents.

our admin assistant is hardly ever at work cuz she's having to take time off cuz one of her kids is sick. just last week she missed 2 days because her daughter had a cold. her daughter is 14

she just wanted to stay at home, imho.

lol

well she has a certain amount of sick days and has the right to use them

eventually people will get tired of her and let her go

The problem is when these things are part of the company policy or are under the discretion of someone who thinks parents are a special group. You can ask all you want and it won't matter.

I'm just saying everyone should get the same consideration.

but parents are a special group

even when I was single I recognized this

and I was able to get work from home because I asked and the IT guy likes me

my point is if you know someone's circumstances (which are different from yours) and why they are granted certain things, accept it or make your case for why you should get it too (for me I said I needed it because I was moving into our home and needed a week off but wanted to be able to log in to work if I needed to)

the woman I am talking about just loved to complain though lol

And huh at the bold? Families are already more than subsidized by the childfree. When it comes to healthcare, you pay more because more people means more service. That was your choice to have more people.

Okay it simply requires a "qualifying event" I'm sure.  I'm no sure what else can be done to solve your issue.   Until they come up with "its not fair syndrome" as a valid diagnosis you're kind of screwed.

And to the second part, again, it was your choice not to have more people so its only fair in this village that you kick in for my family.   I'm going to protest this family plan sh*t and insist on getting the exact same rate as you.  Its not fair.

Childfree people are already kicking in for your family. I've yet to meet a person that turns down any of the lovely child tax credits they are eligible to receive. I don't get ish from y'all, but I stay paying for y'alls children in one way or another.

ANd believe me, my medical plan is probably way more than your family plan. You don't want it.

and this is the part that is crazy to me

they call the first three months of a baby's life the fourth trimester

how can you even compare that time to a retreat?

and I think someone here asked this before but don't remember who it was, but that article said that raising a child born in 2012 will cost a mid income fam a total of $301,970 over 18 years.  Doesn't include post sec. education.

(didn't we have a can you afford a child thread one time? lol)
