My friend's brother got his GED. And now he's an electrician making 70k + a year. He didn't go to traditional college to earn a degree but he still recived post secondary education. He took up a trade which is fine in my book. Traditional college isn't for everyone. People make decisions based on what is best for their lives.

Another consideration...I feel that most careers involving physical/manual labor...even administrative positions/routine office work jobs will be outsourced/automated via machines in the near future and that the world will become a knowledge economy. I wonder what most people will do for work...
I don't look down on people because they do not have degrees or are blue-collared. I don't understand how celebrating degrees/professional career paths (doctor, attorney, engineer , etc.) automatically means that those without are bad people. However, In my personal life, figuring out the best methods for future success through looking at statistical data, rather than anecdotal evidence is a good bet for the future.

The ones too old may struggle if they are alone, and these kinds of jobs wouldn't even be an option for the young generation, and so there would be no issue. They'll just choose from the new options available. School is in place as a part of a system, but mostly does not encourage knowledge and wisdom about true life. School helps us make money in our society. But money is in place as a part of a control and power system. Money is not even real, but it is relatively real for the game we're playing.

Higher education is a wonderful thing.
How about 'the powers that be' stop bullsh*tting and stop putting a price on knowledge, resources, and human dignity. The purpose of school, and what you learn there would drastically change.
