Obese people have been elected presidents before: William Taft, Grover Cleveland and Teddy Roosevelt were all huge. Ted Kennedy kills a woman, runs for presidential nomination, almost obese and was still revered

true but like i said in the OP, this was before television. now the expectations are different.
the kennedy's are always able to run scams successfully....Arnold's governorship was the most successful scam recently.

I will say this...They would elect an Obese pres with a slim wife before they elected an Average pres with an Obese wife. Even if the pres is obese his slim wife would have to be considered very attractive.

if anything the expectations are lower, the country is more obese...also now the word "fat" is damn near considered a hate crime. christie dared corzine to call him "fat" during the campaign, he couldnt and kept hinting at christie's "health" instead

he's already a popular governor
he's known for being direct and RELATIVELY honest, certainly more bipartisan than many republicans ... basically things people wanted but Mitt lacked
he has better chances as a republican than mannnnnnnnny others, even if they are thinner or more attractive
as a republican vp ... a shoe-in

It would be interesting if there were an obese president who didn't lose weight while in office. Fat haters would go ballistic...because how can you explain someone staying fat when they have the best chef, best doctors, best trainer, and every single morsel of food they eat and exercise they do is documented.
