Ouch

World's richest woman says poor should have less fun, work harder

By David Lazarus

August 30, 20129:31 a.m.

Just in case you were beginning to think rich people were deeply misunderstood and that they feel the pain of those who are less fortunate, here's the world's wealthiest woman, Australian mining tycoon Gina Rinehart, with some helpful advice.

"If you're jealous of those with more money, don't just sit there and complain," she said in a magazine piece. "Do something to make more money yourself -- spend less time drinking or smoking and socialising, and more time working."

Yeah, let them eat cake.

Rinehart made her money the old-fashioned way: She inherited it. Her family iron ore prospecting fortune of $30.1 billion makes her Australia's wealthiest person and the richest woman on the planet.

"There is no monopoly on becoming a millionaire," she said by way of encouragement.

"Become one of those people who work hard, invest and build, and at the same time create employment and opportunities for others."

Boom. Almost too easy.

Why are people poor? Rinehart blamed what she described as "socialist," anti-business government policies, and urged Australian officials to lower the minimum wage and cut taxes.

"The millionaires and billionaires who choose to invest in Australia are actually those who most help the poor and our young," she said. "This secret needs to be spread widely."

And now it's out there.

Thank you, rich people. We're not worthy.

I don't see how socialism is a bad thing.  It seems like we'd be better off imo

She's a fukkwit.

The only way to become that successful is to inherit a fortune or make it in stocks.  The vast majority of those who are poor work.  America's bust economy is proof that there is no such thing as a "trickle down effect."  The rich get rich by spending less.

If any of these secret millionaire next door stories teaches you ANYTHING, it's that rich people stay rich by squandering vast amounts of cash away.  It goes far beyond buying yourself a Prius instead of a Bentley.  It goes beyond buying the $500,000 home when you can afford the $5,000.000 home.   If they gave their wealth away to workers, they would have less cash.  If anyone in the country thinks that by giving rich people MORE money that they would help turn the economy around and give jobs back to Americans, they are sorely mistaken.  Why would you pick up and leave a place where you can pay someone $1 for 12 hours of work per day for the American who would demand $10.50 per hour?

Again, here is another rich person telling us she doesn't give a FUKK about our economic struggles.  And this is exactly the reason why we need to keep OUR MONEY out of her pockets and the pockets of people like her with all these damn tax breaks they get.

I can't say it is perfect, but for the time being, it's working okay over here.  We are headed into an economic crisis, but I can't say it's as bad as America.  At least CEOs don't make 450 times what the average worker makes.

If implemented correctly socialism can work.
It all depends on who is at the helm and the overall culture of the ppl.

In its present state, I don't see socialism being adopted by America.

Bunnyah of course they are going to talk about it like it's bad. Hell it would limit the gap between their income and regular folks. They like making 1511 million gazillion bucks.  This heifer doesn't even work for her own money. Get the hell out. She didn't get rich by working an hourly job. That heifer was born into money.
