hey girl i dont know WHY this happens but i happens to me too the scalp is obviously clean and all that maybe its caused by us possibly getting anxious i know i get anxious bout it cause im scared the relaxer will overlap or that il burn too quickly n have to wash it out befor it takes cause i have a sensitive scalp
I think it has to do with mental state as well. Anxiety. Sometimes I go months and months without a relaxer, averaging inches in growth. Only when I start thinking about getting the relaxer does it start to itch. I know I am not supposed to scratch because it will burn. You know what they say about temptation of the things you know you are not supposed to have or do. Anyways, after all those months it starts itching only when I'm about to get a relaxer. When I shorten my stretch period by a few months, the same thing happens when I choose a relaxer time.
My hair doesn't really itch when it is just growing. I'm not so sure that growth is the reason for the itch. (Not in my case anyhow) Hair is always growing and my hair and body would be itching all the time as I too am a mammal, (like all other humans). We have an entire body covered with tiny hairs which are growing, dying, and falling out all the time. Your hair is growing even as you get the relaxer and every single day afterward up until your touch up. I just don't know.
Edit - This might be a reason. Just as when people trying to detoxify from drug usage have withdrawal symptoms, the itch means you need another hit of them chemicals in your system. That is some deadly stuff in those relaxers.
