I reiterate my point, y'all aint ready for socialism....

people are not willing to pay correct market prices for their food, thus ensuring service workers get a decent living wage... nah, they would think eff the service workers, I want it as cheap as possible.. People are generally getting less and less socially responsible...
I'm sure shoppers in stores such as Primark, Forever 21 and the like never really stop to think WHY their clothing is so cheap... where its coming from, how its made... I doubt they would be willing to pay higher prices to ensure those workers got fair living wages

it would be simplistic to say that food is more expensive solely due to the workers being paid more... it is a factor but not the only overriding factor...

The point I was trying to make is, I would rather pay 18 dollars total for a meal, knowing everyone who buys that meal pays 18, and the server gets a decent wage, rather than, I pay 18, somebody else may only pay 15, some may pay 12, and that person is then open to fluctuations in their salary and may get short changed on occasion...

My whole beef with the tipping system is about servers getting short changed. I personally do not understand why hostesses should get a higher basic wage than a server, considering the differences in their jobs...

If that's the case, then it would be better to boycott table service until waitstaff are paid fairly

Rather than take advantage of the waitstaff's current position and help shortchange them

its not servitude though. its a job. you don't tip the person at mcdonalds even though they are pretty much doing the same thing. serving you food. and some fast food establishments will bring the food to you..

some restaurants include the gratuity in the bill when you carryout and then still have the nerve to have a tip option on your receipt.

these people weren't stolen from their neighborhoods and forced to become servers. they knew full well what they applied for and how much they'd make an hr when they applied for the job. so don't feel entitled for me to give you extra money on top of that

But they are not in servitude because of Maysay, its because of the greedy corporations who hired them for a $2 salary... and aint nobody mad at them...

Why is the $2 an hour the consumers problem and not the manager?

Right, which is what I personally try to do when it's my own money. There are lots of restaurants where the staff is paid a wage and tipping is really just extra. Now, if other people are paying, then I'm not strong enough to turn it down. But it's something to work toward.

Everyone is not like that...many of us love target even though Wal-Mart is right around the corner.  I do not always go for the cheapest option, especially when my money is right.  I shop mom and pops when I can.

Because Americans don't want to pay $5 for a slice, we expect a pizza for that price
