welp i skimmed that long azz post and it appears that mostly in Europe the service charge is AUTOMATICALLY included in the bill.  so, you are FORCED to tip.

how is that any different from what we are suggesting here...which is that one should tip considering the fact that you KNOW these workers make less...Sleepy

As a black person I chafe at the idea of servitude because it's your job and don't expect anything extra

I love service and I don't mind paying for it

So an avg applebee's entree would be 17.99 in Europe instead of 11.99...

It may be automatically added, but you are not forced to... it is understood to be discretionary/optional, and in many establishments, it will actually be stated at the bottom of the receipt that it is optional.

I have reduced tips, increased tips, or left no tips at all depending on service, and it has not been questioned., because it is optional, not forced...

we clearly have different mindsets towards tips, given different backgrounds... however when in Rome, I do as the Romans... if that system works for y'all, have at it... but I don't like it...

There is a difference between services rendered and servitude. Doing your job is not servitude just because it involves doing something for someone else.

I have no problem paying 5$/slice of pizza if it means that the worker is being paid appropriately for the service rendered.
