Their rude and dry. They don't do anything and they always seem bothered by everything I ask. I'll tip for good service, but their's has never been good where I live. I'm not tipping at a food bar period though.

Take out, I will tip.

I really don't get it

People should be up in arms about the poor wages that these servers are paid, rather than about the customers who don't tip well...

tis all
thats the real issue. they should be paid properly.

I guess thats where i dont have a problem. The establishments should them well, and as long as they aint spitting in my food, i dont care. They dont need to please me. I just want my food, on time, and what I ordered.

while I understand (dont agree --i shouldn't feel obligated to tip, even for good service. Youre getting paid)what Ricky is saying about the service being somewhat separate from the food cost....
... at the salon, I pay you for a service...why am i tipping you again on top of that??

the beautician who does your hair doesn't get the whole 200 to whatever it cost to get your hair done right? do those beauticians have to pay for their station area to work at?

My beautician is the only beneficiary of what I pay. She rents the other stations and people pay her a little something for rental and utilities at the end of the month.
If Im not mistaken, that's how it generally works at the other salons as well.

basically.  and i don't believe most when they say they would be fine paying more.Sleepy

how is that any different from what we are suggesting here...which is that one should tip considering the fact that you KNOW these workers make less...Sleepy

But is it considered a 'tip' if its a part of the bill? A service charge and a tip arent necessarily the same thing, right?

Because I like the food, I just don't like the servers, and I don't complain about that to managers unless it's absolutely horrible.

I'm not trying to get somebody messed up on the job; I'm just not tipping if they aren't worth tipping.
