LOL True we are like everywhere it seems. Russia, Germany, Asia, France of course lots more, even Alaska I bet.

My dad actually went to Bulgaria in the 80's back when it was still a Communist country.

My cousin is in Russia. Its the only place that was granting visas without effort. Nigerians are everywhere. I have a friend that goes to china every 6 months he was telling me how Nigerians have a small community there, almost like Lagos. He said those Nigerians will never leave even if they wanted to. They have learn the language and business is booming over there.
 
Mmmm I haven't heard good things about how they treat Africans in Russian at all. Does your cousin like it there?

What's wrong with saying 'afro-textured' hair? 

That's what I call it. I agree saying AA hair doesn't make much sense at all even if it is written in the US.Confused What about Afro-Latinos? You wouldn't say "Afro-Latino" hair would you?

This! Honestly, I cringe a little whenever I hear the term "African American," especially from non POC. It's like you're trying to find a politically correct way to say I have dark skin (and you don't need to because my dark skin isn't a negative thing which needs re-wording to sound nicer). 

Also, articles about "White-American Hair" (Lol), describe the actual hair rather than person whose head it's on because it's understood that their hair can come in many different forms, but for some reason this concept is lost in main stream discussion of our hair. 

A girl at work was telling me about how she and her sisters all have different hair, hers the straightest and her baby sister super-curly. When I started to talk about how the textures varied in my family as well, her first question was if they were "mixed with something" for not having "typical" AA hair......

LOL People seem to think African American and black are the same thing. Which is weird because only a fraction of black people live in America. I think they should say afro hair but I know some ladies would be offended because they're black without fros...

right, kinky means tightly curled, I looked it up in the dictionary to make sure. They could also say afro-textured, coily, wooly... black hair can mean anything. but I never new kinky could mean straight hair with kinks, although I didn't see it in my dictionary. I guess that's how you'd described relaxed hair, where it's a relaxed curl.

The reason people say African American Hair, versus African Hair, is because most people who are considered colored or black are not completely (%100) African. They didn't come straight from Africa, they are mixed with something other than that. Take me for example, I am of an African background, but I am also Native American, Irish, and Asian. I have African 'American' hair because I am not %100 African. I had a friend who is %100 African, Zainab, she on the other hand does have African hair. See the difference. We aren't making things harder for ourselves, we are being factually correct. If you come from Africa you most likely have African Hair, but if you are in America(or anywhere else in the world) and are mixed with something other than African you have African American Hair.

In reality all it is is Afro-textured hair. I suggest if you want to look up African hair, you look up actual tribes and groups.

And to answer your question "If I moved to America would my hair suddenly become African-American hair?" You be the judge, are you mixed- then yes. If your not mixed- then no.
