I am not even asking for all of them to be Malcolm X or even deep. I love Friday and hell the deepest thing about that movie was how to take a gun from your son by asking him to put it back in his drawer and how to hit a man with a trash can. Instead we get drivel like Tyler Perry movies. sighs

There are some that are alright, the ones with more sophisticated storylines. Black comedies are usually so terrible though.

I would would to see an all black horror movie/ science fiction movie without the cliches, tired ass story lines, and stereotypes. I think it's about time we get out of the comfort zone and branch out to new ideas.

We need a new breed of black film directors. Can't expect Tyler Perry to do it all. He appears to me to be a one trick pony anyways. He should add to what's there not be the only thing around

it's a catch 22 because in order to branch out to different genres, producers must first prove that black audiences will come out. Yet black audiences do NOT support black films. The only reason TP was able to do what he did was because YT people watch his movies (at least initially). I try to ALWAYS support black films no matter what. Have I been disappointed? Sure, but I'd rather give them my $9.50 than some other mainstream YT romantic/comedy/horror/sci-fi flick that is so typical.
Us as black people are NOTORIOUS for not supporting our own, and the lack black movies, just like other black business is evident of that.
