^^^Yes. I bleach my knots and even though I use the bandage, I use a makeup powder on top to mimic my scalp. that's all I really do. I get my bndages from work because I work for a Emergency medical supply company. So I stock up :) I think the most important step is bleaching the knots and I have become very good finally! It took many screw up, but I have it down now. And actually one of my vendors will do this for me on occasions when she is feeling nice. lol

Hi Ladies,
I for one wear both FLW and Uparts (with and without closures). I'm partial to U Parts because they are custom made exactly how I want them without the need to depend on the vendor to get it right. I also have a wierd shaped head and I've ordered a custom unit before that still had too much "room" near the crown of my head and gave me a "conehead look." (Advice?)
Also, for ladies who are transitioning from or are used to havings sew ins, UParts with closures is sometimes a gateway to lace wigs to allow them to get accustomed to lace color, parting, natural part methods, etc.
Also, U Parts are not as delicate as lace wigs. I'm just being honest, I ripped quite a few holes in some wigs not realizing how gently to treat them. So some ladies are scared to mess up an expensive unit and because of that, prefer U Parts.
hth.

I can see the point of a u-part, like if your unit matches your leave out, then it eliminates a lot of the problems with FLW, but a u-part with a lace closure on top just ads the problems of a lace wig back in doesn't it?
I've never heard of this silicone sheets method for a natural part, what does it entail?

Maybe its an easier install. To me its easier to install a weave then a lace wig. I have learned that you need some serious skill to attach lace wig and have it look natural. Weaves are simply easier not to mention you don't have to think about which attach method you have to use to keep the hair in place. I personally do not rock wig because I can't rock the same hair style for months on end plus the damm hair is sooo expensive. |
Starlite, did you mean to say weave and not wig?

Yes, I am sorry

mainly I think it about the quality of the hair. If I could find a lace wig with great quality hair, life would be great. I love Jace and yummy. after wearing these two vendor's hair,I just can't reasonably see that I would be happy in anyone's lace wig. The best hair on a lace wig I ever had was Sasha Paul back in 2007. It was $500 and was beautiful. But even it died after a while, due to bald spots. On the other hand my homemade wig with Jace is on month 5 and still looks brand new. In fact the only thing I have had to redo is the closure ( which came from Princess Hair Shop). So quality and economically,it just makes sense for me. I just made a u part out of Yummy and it very nice, however I do feel self aware about my short, dry leave out, so it may be getting a closure soon too.

I always wondered this same thing. But I guess you get to chose the type of hair with the u-part.
Any hooo, I have a question. I just bought my first lace front. It'll be here in a couple of days. If I'm not feeling it, I can very easily change it into a u part can't I?

I have to say, with all the videos I watch on youtube, the hair that always looks the best and highest in quality is sew-ins with closures or uparts with closures, so I understand what Naypoo said about the quality.
If the quality was the same though, I still can't see why someone would choose a u-part + closure over a full lace. Are u parts with closures a lot cheaper?

Its easier to control the installation of a Upart+ Closure if your comparing it to actually installing a LFW. Its like the difference of putting on strip lashes versus an individual lash. Your lash line my be shaped different and its hard to lay the strip lash perfectly. Once you get on side of the strip lash down the other side lifts up etc... but with indi lashes you can place each in the most optimal position so it looks as natural as you want it. When you move a wig...you can't move a part of it. You have to disconnect lift and and shift the entire wig. The most important part of the app if your wearing your hair down is how to get the front to lay naturally. Having the pieces split in half as a Upart or 3/4 + Closure or Frontal allows you to really control your app without doing as much work as a sew in requires. Its like the perfect fusion of the two options of wig it or weave it.
The biggest pro of LFW versus U-part + Closure is its beneficial for those who don't actually "install" the hair. A lot of LFW wearers use combs, clips, bands, pins or nothing to attach the hair and remove the hair daily. This is obviously more convenient for people who use the hair in this manner. A closure can't just really sit on your head and neither can a U-part. It has to be attached. A LFW can be placed on your head in a hurry without being connected or installed. I've worn one LFW to work during the day that's more professional and reserved and a different one in the evening that had more color and flair to go out in. If I had "installed" the hair I would be resigned to that style for x amount of time.
A FLW emerges as a better option when you plan on wearing up do's, center parts in the rear or half parts. However if you always do LFW then you can easily work both U-part&Closure option or the LFW.
