look @ the transition from the black(1) to the purple (2). Where did the z on the denominator go? and why?

I tried to do the same thing as

5       10      1        2
--- x  ---- = ---- x  -----
15     25      3        5

See how 5 was a common factor so I divided everything by 5?
exaclty,
5/15 is 1/3

When you divide out the 5 from the denominator, you must do it from the numerator as well. same goes for the z. The z goes away once you divide it from the numerator and denominator.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I think I get it!!!!! Let me try

If you multiply z by both sides you get (although IDK why you would do this)
4v= 4(5((15-3)/4) +10)

the four distributes so your left with
4v= 4(5((15-3)/4) +40
Then the two fours cancel
4v=5(15-3) +40
4v=5(12)+40
4v=60+40
4v=100
v=25

So this is where our paths diverge...

grr this is putting me behind!

it's vz=5(x-y)+wz....not vz=5z(x-y)+wz
it's vz=5(x-y)+wz....not vz=5z(x-y)+wz
