even still amtrack and grey hound is often cheaper than driving.  my mom used to take the train everywhere.  her tickets were cheap as hell...
 
maybe it's different in other countries...

I don't think she was using him.  Maybe she didn't know it would interest him enough to warrant him to want to go on his own.  Either way, he should have made sure she got there or gave her his rail ticket.

Sorry folk I wasnt able to fix it before I left but it has been updated with more detail yet simplified at the same time....... heres some additional info....

Shelly has a daughter and without the ride would have to leave as early as 630am to get to the train. She doesnt believe she would be able to find someone to watch her that early.

Chris wages are 40k a year and lives with his mother where he doesnt pay bills (outside of giving his mom $300-400 a month. Shelly is a single parent and makes less than half. She thinks its stingey for him to drop her to save himself from paying when he knows money is very tight for her (a month or so prior she got a shut off notice for her electric but this has since been sorted out with a little help from him).

They have been together off and on for 4 years. He does offer her money from time to time and if she desperately needs the help she will accept.

Neither one has contacted the other since  its been 24hrs

what would have been nice since it's his girl is if he offered to pay for half her rail fare since she's broke.

If Shelly is a single parent then sorry she needs to prioritize her life better.  If class isn't for work or to improve her skills in some area that has a direct benefit then she needs to get her big panties on and move on with life.  Get the class notes from Chris and her sister and call it a day. 

Sure it would be nice if Chris paid half the fare, but that still doesn't negate the fact that she was first trying to use him...

Why she's dating a man for 4 years that still lives with mama is a whole other thread, lol
