Long story short:
Of the 18 foreign teachers that work in this school, 3 of us are black and 1 is Asian American. White privilege is VERY REAL at this establishment.
- They claim that since we are 50% of the teaching staff, that it is 50% our school. There aren't any foreign folks sitting on the board of directors OR funding the school.
- They are trying to argue for a raise because taxes have gone up here and therefore their salary should go up.
- Whenever something goes wrong, they always blame the other teachers for it. It's never the foreign teachers who do anything.
Folks tell me I should give my two cents and contribute, but when I do, NOBODY LISTENS. I said that in order to get a raise, we have to show our worth. They will just laugh in our faces if we just show up with only stats on salary and not actual work we have done to improve the school. (Most of these fools roll up on time and leave at 5PM. I'm one of the few who comes in 1 1/2 hours early, stays 1/2 hour late, comes in on Saturdays and takes language lessons).
I swear working here is like a sitcom.
