I'm so confused by the "is this progress" question. I love her honesty and she's a great thinker.

I saw the video and I don't buy into that in 2013 money is privilege it opens all doors because America is greedy and they don't care what color you are. yt sill want to believe that lie and sell the lie they believe bc that is all they have. when other races, creeds and sexual affiliations start to own more and buy more their numbers will shrink in owning market share. the sad part is ppl still believe that ish and always will

word to Obama | Having money does open up doors. But she's probably talking about the many %s of people who don't have this money to buy themselves into the circles. A white woman like her will still get special privileges over a black girl. Even if you look at things on the small scale in the current job market. She will get more call backs after interviews & she would have the same cv & bank account balance as everyone else

I'm not unattractive, but I certainly did not win any genetic lottery. I am decent looking, but I try to make up for it by being intelligent, accomplished, cooking, etc. It is the only way I can compete with the gorgeous O's out here.

The comments that I have seen re this are just a mess. They so didn't get it. One comment was 'don't hate cos I am beautiful. Why is she apologising'? I thought 'hmm that really went over your airhead self'. Twat

I thought that was a good little talk. I appreciated her honesty.
One thing I have never been able to really articulate is why at home, I feel so beautiful and love and embrace my kinky hair, dark skin and curvy body but as soon as I'm out in the world, I feel fat, ugly and like a freak. Today I wore a loc fro and every time I passed a mirror I sort of smiled. But my coworkers were like, "Did you cut your hair?" "It shrinks THAT much?" "Your hair is so cute." I shrink in the white world and feel bad about myself. I mean, what grown woman is looking to be "cute"? I don't know but I think this lady nailed it.
I don't think skinny thighs and flat hair is attractive. But the world does. I think that's what I feel in the world. No matter how fly I am in my controlled environment, in the world I'm a nappy-headed, dark-skinned and in the 80% of black women who are termed obese.
She is what the world loves. She gets the free stuff.
