Hey everybody! I'm new to the forum and may have a silly question. I recently took my hair out of cornrows.

Before:

Cornrows:

After:

Now, if I could find a way to get my hair to stay like it did after the cornrows consistently, that would be ideal. But I am willing to take suggestions with what I should do with this hair!!

Thanks everybody! :)

It's a braid out. You like the after effects of the braids. You can braid your hair yourself. Wash and condition it. Then towel dry it. Apply a bit of gel. Don't use the hard crunchy kind. Maybe garnier fructis or something that holds but does not get flaky or hard. Use a big comb with wide teeth to comb through the hair. Section it off and braid it into several braids. You don't have to have someone cornrow it and you can do it yourself this way. Once it dries you can take down the braids and fluff it out. Voila!

You can't go from curly to wavy for all time. Embrace the fro. Or do like Jonah Hill and cut it or Danny McBride and grow it out.

Irish curly hair is quite similar to mulatto hair. It is fine, just gel it a bit, cut it down or use alberto vo5 or similar. No big deal.

OP, your hair is no more "crazier" than any other white/korean/european/irish/french/african whatever hair that is of a curlier texture than a 1 texture..

i grew up seeing whites on our block who wore fros better than the brothers.  Justin timberlake cut his..and yes, when he grows it out, he wears his hair in cornrows.

^^^^^^^^

I co-sign on this post and the products mentioned, that method is also a great way to provide more moisture to your curly hair.

Gels and hair creams(or a leave-in conditioner with a creamy consistency) are ideal for curly hair.
Always make sure that the first ingredient listed is water(mostly listed as aqua), at least that way you know you're on your way to some moisture.

Another tip if you aren't doing that already is to only comb your hair while it's wet and to leave it alone once it starts to dry or you will end up combing out the curls which will give your hair a fluffier look, which is great for styles with more volume but not if you want to bring the focus to your curls. So do not comb your hair dry unless you want more volume.

Good luck.
