U part wigs all the way!
Since I staretd making my own am never going back. Sewins damaged teh front of my hairline too much but with U parts I ahve more flexibility. I can care for my hair underneath, sew down teh top so its secure. or even use a closure if I want to further protect my hair.

No looking back :)

I've only tried sew ins. I really want to try making my own u part wig one day (sew method), because I'm not feeling the normal wigs or half wigs, and like to touch my scalp a lot more than the sew in allows. I've never made a wig before ever so it'll be an interesting project. I plan to use cheaper bss hair to practice with before I touch my virgin wefts.

^^^ I feel the same way. I am tired of the time it takes to do a sew-in. I think the time will be better spent making my own U-part. Plus it sounds like the hair will last a lot longer...maybe one day!

I never thought I'd do a u-part but I'm on my 2nd one and I love them. The only drawback for me is the inability to wear my hair pinned up in a ponytail or high bun since I use clips. I'm considering sewing it down and I think that would be a perfect solution.

I definitely prefer u-part wigs, especially because I can make them and it's cost effective for sure. I love I can take the wig off, wash my braids or hair whichever is convenient, then sew that sucker right back on! I do hair too, but as for me I definitely enjoy the u-parts better!

Ditto on everything just said.  I've done both and u-parts allow for you to take care of your hair more easily than a sew in would.

Sew-ins. I don't necessarily need to change out styles often so committing to one style for a month or two isn't a problem for me. Besides, I can always curl it, crimp it or do whatever with it when I feel like it. It's also a great way to grow out my natural hair so I do utilize sew-ins often ;)

The lace closure wig solves this problem.

Sew ins.....i can go swimmin and not worry about a wig falling off because of the non-existent gravity o.O
