I was told never to use a preload Microsoft template by both my technical writing instructor and the career services department at my university. The people who will be shifting through resumes and hiring folks will have seen these templates a million times.

Alaska Airlines is also hiring for flight attendants. You have to be flexible, and be open to moving - you can be placed in SEA/LAX/ANC.

The Jones Group, Inc. is currently seeking a Planning Assistant. This role will provide administrative support, information and reports to planning executive and/or planning team. Entry level position exposed to sales and design with an emphasis on data entry to include weekly selling recaps, setup of Tradeweave buyplans and manage system integration.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 
  • Generate and manage reports-ie. Weekly selling reports using BW/SP data, selling recaps - by classification, fabric, style, size zone
  • Set up and maintain Tradeweave buy plans, utilizing PLM and Integration
  • Prep Sales team for market with updated buy plans and assist in showroom prep as needed
  • Communicate with production team and sales team on necessary information
  • Send out chase information and submit buy plans to production when complete, follow up with production to receive all answers
  • May have entry level planning responsibility- ie. Special size planning
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
  • Think through problems, conceive solutions and review options with manager
  • Manage time effectively to complete all required tasks
  • Competitive shop department stores to learn brand positioning and retail marketplace
  • Demonstrate initiative by reviewing reports and highlight findings
  • Internal communication with design, sales and production to exchange information
  • Must be able to work in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors degree
  • Degree in business or merchandising a plus
  • 1 year related experience preferred (Internship included)
  • Adept and accurate data entry skills

  • Familiarity with Planning Department in a women's ready to wear manufacturer or retailer
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new softwear
  • Basic math skills

Key Focuses:
Purchasing, Allocation, and Replenishment:
Manages the creation of the Assortment and Buy Plans, and recommends resulting scenarios to the Buyer / Associate Buyer (i.e., number of styles and number of units per style). Develops and updates store volume / climate clusters. Conducts size selling analysis, and integrates results into size planning for allocation. Creates size grids and allocation tables to support the purchase order creation process. Partners with buying team to incorporate store feedback into size planning as appropriate.

Merchandising:
Participates in market attendance as feasible. Provides information for the merchandise strategy. Analyzes sales unit performance reports, and incorporates the results into future business decisions.

Financial Planning:
Provides information for the Business Review. Participates in the development of department-level store sales plans. Adheres to the company’s planning calendar.

Open-to-Buy Monitoring:
Provides information to aid in the monitoring of vendor’ received not ordered’ compliance. Analyzes store-level inventory productivity (WOS, T/O).

People Development:
Participates in training and development. Helps to develop and support a team environment, and participates in the team’s activities. Participates in the Performance Review, Mid Year and Quarterly Reviews. Participates in fostering job satisfaction and positive morale
Job Requirements:
Desired Background:
  • University or College degree in addition to 1- 2 years experience in planning or allocations.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word.
  • Strong interest in learning and applying retail math concepts, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, and inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GM)
  • Ability to identify and apply systems solutions to business problems.
