What should I do to maintain a hair regimen that I can afford to maintain? I don't have a job and and I go to school, I can't afford to always buy conditioners and get my hair done at the hair salon to straighten my roots. So far I've been co-washing my hair and DC'ing alternating the DC's from my dominican silicone pearl extract protein DC and with my Vitals DC(Idk if thats a protein or moisturizing Confused) but so far im going on 6 weeks post and I literally have an inch of new growth, yesterday I straightening my roots because I didnt want my hair to be tangley and create further damaged. My hair has gotten longer which Im pleasantly surprised, because I didn't think half an inch would show any significant difference. What kind of regimen should I create to still take care of my hair but can afford, because my hairis growing to fast for me to keep up with financially?

It might help if you list your products and what you use them for (and how often) so that people can give you suggestions on cheaper alternatives.

In general though, I would spend money on the things I feel are most important in my regimen and go super cheap on the rest. For example, a great leave-in is most important for me, but I can detangle with any type of conditioner so a .50cent bottle of V05 is fine for that.

Also, make an effort not to use more than you need. Usually putting conditioner on completely wet hair helps it spread more easily so you can use less. You can also help your products last longer by adding oils that you probably can find around your house.

for co-washing use V05 or suave naturals maybe you could dc every 2 weeks to stretch the products.

truely and honestly I use any conditioner like I've used my gariner conditioner it was probably like 8. oz, that ran out, my nexxus that ran out, (when I used them they were almost finish already) but I really want to know if Vitals is a protein or deep conditioner? And yeah thanks I forgot about cheap conditioners, right now I just bought the Dove oil conditioner and its good, but I dont know about washing my hair often like I've been doing my new growth aint playing no games when its trying to come through its growing fast. What do you ladies do to keep ur new growth under control? Do u air dry? I find that that leaves my hair tangley w/ the NG? Making it seems like i have to rake my hair to detangle it when its dry, but mind I do put moisturizer in it before going in to detangle it. I use BB oil Moisturizer but to me all it does is make my hair oily, my hair doesn't feel soft and moisturized. But as far as being able to manage my NG while trying to encourage more NG is challenging... Confused

Honestly most have already said some good suggestions. It's ok to go with the cheap conditioners. Often you can also use house hold products as well to DC. Consider olive oil, coconut oil (some ppl even use crisco), avacado oils, molasses treatments, etc. A lot of times, what you need for your hair is right in your kitchen.

For clarifying, some ppl (myself included) use Apple Cider Vinegar, black tea rinses, etc.

I switched to an all natural routine which ended up being cheaper and easy with consistent results. But also keep in mind, switching up your products all the time is going to give you inconsistent results, as you'll never know which ones are helping/hurting your hair.
