My step mom would sing this song to wake me up lol. It was cute. "Welcome to Marmonette's world, She's a beautiful and talented girl, today is her day, and things are going her wayyyy welcome to Marmonette's world"

My grandmother taught my mother not to yell us out of our sleep, but instead pull our toes or tickle our feet, because it can affect the nervous system.

My mom is a sweetie pie and she doesn't curse though ( never heard a curse at home)but she has sass for days. She is definitely a tough mama but tempers it with sweetness where she can.
I come from a long line of tough loving. It always came from love but all that sing songy stuff wasn't her, she was the hammer and my father was the cotton. ( he woke us up by tickling our noses)
So in that regard the women in my family were always a bit tougher. When we watched the Help there was a scene where one of the maids was putting her daughter on the bus and had tough words for her my mom said her mother said something very similar. And that just the way it was

my mother is tough but sweet too. But she just never woke me up like a bitch. Esp as a child. As a teen her M.O was to peep her head in the door and say, Derri You're not getting up? Because I set my alarm to wake me by then, and she'd hear it going off.
