The "healthy" percentage is 30%....but what state/country are you in & what percentage of your take home pay is being spent on rent/mortgage

I live in dc and it's about 48% not including electric...if my apartment was market rate it would be 80% of my take home. & this is to live alone and avoid mice, roaches and frustration while renting in my city

I wanna to see if 30 percent or less is as common as google wants me to believe

Mortgage which includes taxes and insurance is 14% of take home pay. This is in Arizona.

30% seems high.

Zero. We own the house outright.

But if I were to rent a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area, I'd spend about 20% of my salary on it.

I'm about 30%.

Hopefully I will be around the same in the next few months after closing.

About 55% of my income goes on rent
ETA: I live in London so everything here is damn expensive.

Apartments usually do not qualify you if you don't make at least 3 times the rent. Im at 33% in Austin, Texas and the cost of living here continues to skyrocket while incomes remain flat.
