San Francisco is a real city. 2nd most densely populated following NYC, racial diversity, economically viable, transportation, edu institutions, sports, a Mecca for different lifestyles.
There's a lot of cities like this...NYC is not the end all be all!

Did they fail geography?  But yeah, there are plenty of cities in the US besides NYC.

This makes me think of something else.
If the the US could only save one city from a terrorist attack would they save DC or New York.
Probably NY
But are they speaking over something larger like if you get a chokehold on NYC the whole nation suffocates?

Idk NY is the financial capital of the world basically.
It's the USA's welcome mat of the world. When you think USA you think NY
Political capitals can have been moved in the past. Lots of history there but I don't know . It's not a cut and dry answer imo
