4. When grocery shopping, I look at the unit price and not the retail price.
5. I wear wigs now, but when I wore braids and extensions, my sister did my hair for free (not the best but I didn't complain).
6. I invest in netflix. I rarely go to the movies. When I do go, I attend the $6 Tuesday special.
7. I invest in quality products (sometimes). Sometimes getting the cheapest thing may cost you more down the road. For example, I don't buy BSS hair...I like to buy hair from Kevincn which will last me than than BSS and save me money in the long run.

I agree about buying quality. Joyce Meyer discussed this in a book and it stuck
in my head. Buying quality works out in the long run whereas if you buy
cheap stuff you often have to keep replacing b/c of it's poor value.

I am planning to rid myself of cable in about a week or two.
I figure between netflix, hulu and redbox we should be  straight.
I personally rarely watch t.v. but the kids do. Surprisingly
I checked out hulu last night and watched a Korean drama that
was very entertaining and all for free!

  1. I don't go out as often
  2. I bring my own food to work
  3. I bring less money out so I don't spend as much
  4. I get gas from certain locations where gas cost is less and I keep air in my tires and my car light
  5. I look for  coupons , discounts, and promo codes on anything I want and need. Example I was in  desperate  need of a phone and I had a chance to get a brand new phone that cost $400 for $60. Then I had a chance to get another phone that's normally $250-$300 for free...so i got the one for free. Just saved mad money
  6. I hide my money lol
  7. I network and that helps me get good discounts especially when I help others with what I can provide they help me back

I do

1. Extreme couponin.  I only buy food dat is on sale dat is cheaper than Walmart price and only if I have a coupon for it (which I do I buy 6 sunday newspaperz every sunday) I only pay about $70 for food for me and my son every month
2. Buy stuff at da dollar store
3. Buy an entertainment book
4. Download music and moviez, bad I know, but timez are tough on me right now
5. Take da bus when travelin far away to save on gas
6. Wash clothez in cold water, air-dry, don't use my heater, turn off lightz, unplug thingz, turn off thingz, extreme but: eat microwavable stuff at work so I don't have 2 use mine.
7. I use "green" or energy efficient lighbulbz yes they are more expensive but they save U more money
8. Take shorter showerz and take bathz less often
9. Shop at da dollar store
10. compair pricez online and only buy stuff da cheapest I can find it
11. Eat less (I'm dietin so datz easy) us Americanz eat 2 much anyway we could all cut back a little
12. Buy used stuff
13. Cook at home
14. Use couponz for other stuff like movie theatrez, dinning, etc I only do those thingz when I have a coupon
15. Get bookz from da library, I don't buy em
16. Team up wit people to reap da benefitz of their discountz.  I have friendz or otherz I know who work at albertsonz, victoriaz secret, and walgreenz so I have them buy stuff for me at their discount.
17. Join up for da savingz cardz or rewardz cardz of every company I like.  I have da Starbuckz gold card, Famous Footwear card, GNC Gold Card, Fred Meyer Card, Albertsonz, Rite Aid, etc
18. Find cheap entertainment.  People had fun back in da day with almost nothin and we can do it too.  Sometimez I like 2 just go out and take a walk.  Sometimez I'll buy really inexpensive ingredientz for a recipe dat will take a long time but will make a delicious meal to take up time.  We don't relax enough these dayz and relaxin is cheap, candlez and a book from da library, a walk
19. No cable only Hulu Plus $10 a month
20. pre-paid phone
21. Take care of myself so I don't get sick or develop a disease which will become very expensive
22. Buy off brand stuff especially like bras and workout clothin, no guy will ever notice, don't matter.
23. Use my laptop at a cafe as much as possible for lower electricity costz

I know I do more I just can't think of it LOL

1. I cook my own food for work apart from one day a week treat.
2. I do my own hair.
3. I have started investing in gold (I work for the company so I trust it) and when the price goes up I make profit. (so it's an earner rather than a saver but stillSmile)
4. I get a travel card that doesn't cover the city centre (I live in London and I don't work in the city so I don't need the city travel card just zones 2-3).
5. I share accommodation - I used to live alone and it was so expensive!
6. I'm now a smart shopper (with groceries) as well as my website in the signature will show.

T Smile

- Coupons (in the newspapers, groupon.com, online, etc)
- Don't go shopping a lot - I try to go shopping 1-3 times annually for the entire year, and when I do I invest quality items that are made to last long (CPW = cost per wear)
- Cook @ home a lot and go out to eat on occasions, not a regular basis
- Pack my own lunch

1.  I do my hair myself, braids, weaves, etc... I've only been to the shop twice (prom)
2. I do my own pedicures
3. When I shop, I start in the clearance section, I only go to the full priced items if I don't find what I need there.
4. I thrift shop for work clothing. I usually find cute blazers.
5. I only turn my air conditioning on when it is absolutely necessary. it's set to off during the day.
6. Go to free events
7. Buy off brand food, store brand and aldi's. Tastes the same to me
8. I always reevaluate my cart on the way to the check out and end up putting unnecessary items back
9. I layer clothing, & use blankets and space heaters mostly, in the winter

I stopped using my heater and it shed $60 off my utility bill! I went to the flea market and bought some cheap blankets to keep warm.
To save on cosmetics, I use my cosmetology student id to get a discount. If shopping online, I don't buy anything without a promo code that gives at least 40% off and/or free shipping.
For clothes, I buy off season. I just bought six pairs of fall boots for $100. I am working full time this summer so I dont have to time to get all cute. It will pass by fast. In the fall I will stock up on spring and summer clothes.
