This is the only reason I hate washing my hair. Everytime it gets wet it looks like I have a small afro and it takes days of moisturizing to get it back to normal. It looks like I have no hair. Is this natural for some people or is there some way to stop it?

I have shrinkage when I air dry. It's because of my natural hair's texture.. It's tight and coily like a Slinky. I think most (if not all) 4 types are like this.

If your hair is naturally curly/coily it will shrink to a degree depending on how tight or loose your curls/coils are. Type 3a-Type 4xyz can shrink because thatís the nature of natural curly/coily hair, thereís nothing abnormal about it. If you want to lessen the shrinkage after you wash your hair try setting it on large rollers.

If your hair feels very dry after shampooing it may be because the shampoo is too harsh.  Try something all natural that won't strip the natural oils from your hair.

My hair is like a bungee cord so shrinkage is a way of life if there is water around.  It's why I like second day hair so much because it expands and I get a bit more length_popupControl();
