One time my friend told me "You alright to be dark." She was talking about how her ex broke up with her and ended up with a big, dark skinned girl and she couldn't believe it. I was like "Well damn I mean is something wrong with dark people?"and she was like "Nooooo, see you alright to be dark." Her mom heard her and got mad and told her to shut up and that she sounded ignorant. When I got home I told my mom and I said her mom was probably embarrassed that her daughter was saying those things because she didn't raise her like that but my mom said "She got it from somewhere. Hmph!"

Black women are e, f, g, and x, y, z...
A question like this can only elicit stereotypical responses, positive or negative
There's really nothing you can group all Black women under except for our African appearance and our shared experience of a unique struggle. I have no thoughts other than I hope we don't ever adopt the ugly entitled attitudes like that other group

I love my sisters. Rude, catty, or whatever else you want to call them. We take so much crap from so many directions, carry the world on our shoulders hope against hope only for disappointment after disappointment and we're supposed to smile all the time?
I view other black women like I view myself. Some days I'm on point, optimistic and life is good. Other days there's so much pressure in the air...........and I can't get away............... Some days I'm spewing rainbows, other days I'm skatin' without a stick.
If no one in this world gets me, I would hope my sisters would. |
i feel that...but the anger needs to stop being directed towards other black women. that is my primary issue. we understand what we go through so we should be stronger as a community. why do we have to be ugly like white women? that must be where this behavior was learned. |
Not sure I would call what I'm talking about anger. I'm talking about exhaustion. I haven't had many bad experiences with black women. Is it possible that we attract what we are? Not being funny at all but maybe those who have a lot of bad experiences have their guard up or something like that that puts off an air of distrust.
I love black men too and some of the things I read on here about other people's experiences with brothers is heartbreaking. Then they get to black man bashing and screaming swirl. Everyone has their reasons for feeling how they feel. These are my reasons for loving my sisters. Light, dark, rich, poor, single, married, gay, straight, religious or not we're in this together and it ain't all good all the time.

tbh sh*t happens for many reasons and its not only b/c you attract what you are I do think we should work on taking out our hurt, anger and disappointment on the wrong people why bash a black man or black woman that has done nothing to you?

Ladies, how do you perceive your fellow sistas? Catty, angry, too additudinal, not submissive enough? Or do you see the exact opposite i.e. friendly, warm, and loyal? LMKS.

I never had a black female friend. I find them catty and some are REALLY angry, but those are the ghetto ones, not the majority Most girls seem to watch me instead of trying to talk to me or make eye contact. One girl in my class stares at my hair every time I get up from my seat. She thinks it will fall off or something because she can't believe it is real

Are you a Black Woman ? TIA |

Just came to say I love black women, main reason I even come to this site. Also it seems quite obvious to me that black women come in all types of different packages personality, characteristic, etc. wise.
That being said the most common issue I do run into with them is a negative attitude. I understand that the environment we live in plays a major factor. However, I think it's something, if I was a black woman I would be aware of. Just like how I know black men are locked up at a much higher rate than others so I'm very cautious that I don't spend any major time behind that wall.
Ironic that the fact that so many black men are locked up may be leading to increasing negative attitudes. Lol

I must really keep my head in the sand, because while I have encountered negative attitudes of ALL people, I can't say Black women have shown me the most. Usually I am not paying attention to everyday people like that. But when I have to interact with others, I find most are cheerful and cordial. Maybe I am also too old for all that negative attention to be directed towards me . I dunno....but this thread is sad considering most of the women on this site has been super friendly. Meh......maybe people care too much about what others are doing.
