That edgy and provocative woman we have seen so many times on the Gucci
runway is taking a backseat to her more refined and traditionally
feminine sister for Pre-Fall 2013. Inspired by silhouettes of the ’50s, Frida Giannini
is channeling complete sophistication with a rich autumnal color
palette and loads of texture to boot. Not to worry: this
retro-influenced woman is still very sexy, though covered. There aren’t
any of the fashion house’s sheer gowns from the past, but skin does peek
through in very sensual, yet demure ways.

Like so many other designers for the season, Gucci is ushering
colorblocking into Pre-Fall with pleasant combinations of turquoise and
olive, given a punch with leopard accents. Dainty bow-detailed pumps
provide the perfect complements to looks that are sweet and functional:
sure to be huge retail hits.

Prints abound in the collection from Fall-perfect tartans and plaids
to the aforementioned leopard which is displayed everywhere including
coat collars, clutches, opera gloves, and more.

The eveningwear selections are some of the most beautiful. Meticulous
attention to detail and tailoring is paid to the showstopping designs
and I cannot wait to see stylish stars like Kerry Washington, Li Bingbing, LaLa Anthony, and others try on the ensembles for size.
