Alber Elbaz has never been a designer keen on going small or pared-down. His Pre-Fall 2013 collection for Lanvin is just what the eccentric fashionista is yearning for: mixed textures, loads of embellishment, animal prints, and more. Adding to the looks are bejeweled baubles (sure to be seen on the necks of Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian), evening-perfect clutches, and leather boots: the better to stomp the streets of the concrete jungles the world over with.

As is the brand’s signature, ladylike sophistication is on display with leather opera gloves, embellished pencil skirts, and feminine tailoring. Black and chocolate brown are combined in two-tone designs, totally turning the notion that the two shades do not blend well on its head. Structured outerwear is a focus with a wealth of Fall-perfect coats cinched at the waists to accentuate and lengthen the female form.

As is a prerequisite for the season, fur launches the pieces into the luxury stratosphere with functional cozy jackets and detailing that is sure to keep the Lanvin woman warm for the chilly temperatures of Fall.

Where Elbaz really goes bold is in the use of animal prints. Zebra print calf hair, cheetah juxtaposed against leopard, booties and bags covered in feral patterns: nothing is off limits.

Red carpet looks are few and far between, but a bow-detailed LBD and a strapless red number are sure to captivate the hearts of a few Hollywood starlets. Emma Stone has already chosen the latter for the premiere of her new film, Gangster Squad.

What do you think?
