I need a second opinion on how to handle this mess!!

My fiancé and I are getting married end of August. We wanted to keep the wedding "small", around 150 people. All family and close friends. We did the initial arrangements and because my mom was complaining that she felt out of the loop, I stupidly gave her the go ahead to invite a few of her friends. I told her 2 tables worth (8 people per table).

Next thing you know, our wedding list went up to 250 people because my mom took it upon herself to invite ALL these people from church (that I havent seen since I went 6 years ago). Now, our ceremony venue doesnt accomodate that much people, only up to 110 seated.

My dad's been offering to pay for a tent but its not even about the space, I DONT WANT all these people at the wedding even if they "knew me when I was little girl". My fiance is getting stressed, I'm getting stressed and my mom keeps pouting and stressing us threatening not to come saying that its her daughter's wedding and she thought she it would be a happy day for her.

Is it too drastic to tell her to go through the list of guests and uninvite everyone I dont want there?
HELP!

Sounds like you've been more than accommodating for your mother & she took it overboard.

I would go back to the original 16 additional guests for her. That's it.
It's your wedding day, not hers. You've gotta put your foot down.

Remember, your wedding day should be peaceful.

Remind her that it is in fact her daughter's wedding and that it should be a happy day for you, meaning she has to stick to the original plan of inviting only 16 people.
You are not supposed to be getting more stressed out about your big day, plus having a bunch of strangers at your wedding.

Nope, not too drastic.  Tell her to uninvite them.  It's your day & you don't need all this.
