NewMrs. I've cruised twice before but it has been 10 years since my last cruise so thanks for the new info.

Next year, I really want to either cruise with my then 5 going on 6 year old. Or do a resort in the Dominican Republic.

I'd love to see a travel forum.

NewMrs...I just came off my first cruise in June it was with Royal Caribbean. I agree with all of what you stated.

I agree we NEED a travel section. I'm planning on going to Brazil in Feb/March '09 so i would like to get some tips.

I like to take about 2 trips a year...its good for your spirit.

Ohh.. tangie, if you can, do the disney cruise with him/her. out of all of the cruises I've gone on the Disney Cruise is just different.. it's better.. Disney just does it better..

it IS more expensive.. I think you can pretty much get a 5-6 day carnival cruise  for what you pay for a 3-4 day Disney cruise.  But it's sooooo worth it.. The food is phenomenal, the rooms are bigger, the shows are better, the service is out of this world.
For example, we did a short Disney Cruise to Bahamas last September with friends. We (hubby, me and my daughter) booked a shore excursion even though it was the Bahamas and we didn't need to, to the Atlantis resort.. (which is a fabulously overpriced AI resort lol.) We get off the boat and go to get in the transportation, which was a van.. but it was too crowded for all of us to sit together. There was one seat in the back, one in the middle, one in the front.. okay.. I told them no go.. My family sits together so either they start rearranging folks, or they do something else.

No one batted an eye.. the disney cruise reps got on their walkie talkies and radioed for another van. A new van pulled up completely empty just for the three of us.. We get in with the disney rep and quickly realized there was no air conditioning.. *UGH*.. I think we drove around the corner and i was like oh no.. let us out.. please.. let us out.. the disney rep took OVER.. he told the driver.. stop this car, she is unhappy, her family is uncomfortable stop this car immediately..So now we're on a side street in the Bahamas right.. lol. my husband is sweating, my daughter is clinging to me and I'm fit to go off.. but thre was no need. the disney rep who was with us waved down a cab and put us in a cab, and got in with us, rode with us in the cab the rest of the way to the Atlantis resort so we could meet the rest of our tour group.. then left and told us to wait one minute.. He came back with $40 in cash and food vouchers, and showed us where we could have lunch and where we could pick up a cab to go back to the boat in at the end of the day, so we woudln't have to worry bout transportation..

I was satisfied. but I went to the excursion counter anyway, lol. mostly to make sure that the gentleman got credit for staying with us the entire day and being so helpful.. by the time i got to the counter that evening to file my report, the head of excursions said she already had the email, was investigating why it was over booked and gave us a free excursion (without me having to ask for compensation)  for the next day to make up for it.. the next day was teh bbq picnic and beach day, so we had free water equipment (snorkeling, diving, floating thingy's, umbrella and chairs,) plus vouchers for cocktails while sitting on the beach..

Disney just does it better..

The first night we got on board, there was some confusion that we caused.. lol. with out seating, we wanted to change our dinner time and we waited to late to do it but they trie to accomodate us anyway, but wound up booking us at a table that someone else was at.. our fault really..  so we had to wait awhile while they readjusted folks.. to compensate us for that tehy brought our table of 7 two bottles of wine. that is where i discovered my love of Moscato.. yumm!!!

DO DISNEY!! your child willl love you for it!!matter of fact we're taking my daughter on the 7 day or 15 i don't remember disney panama canal trip for her 10th birthday..

I agree we should have a travel section

NewMRS...I'm sold. I have always been afraid to do the cruise thing but I'm ready to go after reading all of this info.   Can I still do disney even if I don't have kids?

NewMrs, I am definitely going to look into it as I want it to be a trip that both of us will enjoy. Now, how is the cruise for adults besides accomodating? I'm not really into Disney, so what are the activities like for us?

ayanna.. and tangie.. lol.

YEs there were lots of adult only activities.. When my gf and i took our kids we would put them in the kids club (which tangie you will love, they check the kids and give u a pager. if the kiddos get a little whiny or want u they just page u.. other than that they are kept so busy you won't see them all day) which is open until midnight..  and then we went to adult karoke, the adult bar, the adult sports bar.. there is no casino, and if i'm remembering correctly, smoking is just bout banne all over the boat... (Which i loved cuz on that carnival boat i couldn't get away from the cigarette smoke it was disgusting..)  they even have adult only restaurants..

one night we were at karoke/comedy show and i went to go check on the kids and came back and my husband was on stage dancing and singing to james
brown.. lol.  no kids around.. adults only.

but the shows.. were AMAZING.. truly disney style productions not just cornball vegas style acts.. it was soooooo good!!

HEY JERSEY!! how's summer coming along for ya!!!
