How long should you wait to relax your hair after shampooing?  I was always told to wait a day or so, is this true?

i usually wait a week after i wash my hair then i put in my relaxer......just so i know the relaxer will work its best.....your gonna wash your hair the same day since you have to wash the~cream/relaxer~ out anyway....so i would say wait a few days after you washed your hair then relax it...that works for me.

you need to wait more than a day.. trust me, washing your hair then relaxing is a big no-no. you're in for some burns.

a week or so is safe.

I wait 3-4 days after a wash to get a perm and I almost never burn.

3 to 4 days should be okay.  The issue is that washing your hair opens the pours in your scalp....and the chemical can then get into the pours....that is what causes the major burning.

I usually wait about 3-4 days and have no problem with burning when I put a relaxer in my hair

wait atleast two days. . belive me I've tried to do it the day after I washed my hair.  YOu'll feel the buring sensation w/ in 5 minutes and it will only get more intense.  WAit atleast 2 days if you get caught in rain you still gotta wait.  .if you get drenched in sweat from your workout you still gotta wait.

you can go to the motions website (http://www.motionshair.com) they have a lot of helpful info.  i think its the do's and don't's where they tell you how long to wait after shampooing to relax.
