    Hi Ladies.

I've used the search and looked through all 29 pages but I couldn't find this...

I'm going to get my second ever sew in sometime soon and was wondering should I wash the hair beofe I get it installed? I'm using BSS hair for the first time, but I plan to use a high quality brand, maybe Black Diamond, and then EP once I can save up enough $$. What methods and products do you use to wash and condition your hair before you get in installed?

Thanks in advance!

You can pretty much use what you use on your own hair. I never washed bss hair before install, even though most of the packaging says to do so.

But anything else, I wash before. Not only to give it an extra cleaning, but to see how it responds to washes, so I won't be surprised if it turns into a mangled mess if I wash it while installed. That saved me once with some supposedly virgin chinese remi hair. After one wash, the stuff tangled and matted so bad, there was no way I could use it.

I wouldn't wash the BSS hair. From what we know BSS is a collection of hair from many different sources and the cuticles aren't aligned so they use some special silicone coating to mask the cuticles and to get the hair looking nice but after you start applying products and after a few days of wear the coating comes off which is why BSS starts sticking up and misbehavin after a few days because that coating stufff is gone… so if you wash it, you remove that coating.

Well then will be OK to wash it while it's in my head? I do plan on getting "good" BSS hair.

don't wash BSS before use? No wonder i never had any luck w/ BSS hair. I would always wash it very well before I installed it. Guess i was washing 3 wks of my hair wearability down the sink. Cause once i'd put it in, in bout 3 days it would be all tangly.

if you get "remy" BSS hair (i.e. outre velvet, or sensationnel goddess) you should be able to wash it before wearing. but if its just regular yaki or something like that, no way.

Black Diamond is a very nice brand. It is a sister company to Bohyme.
