Hey, I love the color purple, and I was wondering if I could dye my brown black natural hair a dark purple without bleaching it? Like a plum purple color. I don't know slot about hair coloring, so please reply back! I want to do this the least damaging way.....

I, myself, don't know much about dying hair,
but I'm pretty sure that it will only tint your hair.
Meaning it'll only show in the sun/light,
but then again, it depends on how dark your hair is.

I definitely don't recommend bleaching hair (especially natural hair)
as it's been known to leave it stripped/dried out.

Ahh.. But is there any other way?

It is possible depending on what you mean by "Plum Purple". Do you have a photo reference of the haircolor you'd like to acheive?

I've actually had this done to my own hair, in highlights, but at a salon.  My hair had to be lifted up to the orange yellow stage with bleach so that the the color would be noticeable.

You might want to do a test strand with just the purple dye. Cause purple dye (And I mean Manic Panic Semi Perm stuff you just put on and it doesn't need a developer) is loaded with pigment. You might be able to achieve the purple very easily by just putting it on your hair. I stress MIGHT! So you just gotta try and see.

Why I'm saying this:
http://haircrazy.info/beginner-guides/dyeing-unbleached-hair/

Ulta sells (Punky Colour and it comes in a beautiful Plum/violet.

Then let me offer this gallery:

The kids with unbleached hair (they're white :/) just used the dye directly and got those results.

POST YOUR RESULTS! If you do any of this I'd be ecstatic to see it! Big smile
