I've never been a diet soda fan. Too sweet. I actually recently got into mixing seltzer with flavored vodkas. As long as the vodka is made from all natural flavors (fruits) and not sugary fillers, you're in for less of a chance of a hangover. My fave is Absolut Mandarin or Absolut Vanilla with seltzer and a twist of lime. :) Plus it's truly less calories as seltzer has none!
