Do you see the issue with this commercial?

Volkswagen’s ‘Jamaican’ Super Bowl ad sparks debate

Watch the Today Show talk about it here

As we get closer to the Super Bowl the highly anticipated commercials set to air during the big game are already starting to leak and spark controversy.

Volkswagen plans on releasing a Super Bowl ad that may come across as offensive to people of Caribbean descent.

A man by the name of ‘Dave’, portrayed by a white actor who speaks in a fake, exaggerated Jamaican accent, is encouraging his work colleagues to be excited in the office while using phrases like “You know what this room needs? A smile!” Once Dave takes his depressed coworkers in a ride in his new Beetle, their mood immediately changes to cheerful.

Was Volkswagen a little culturally insensitive with their commercial or do you think it’s no big deal?
