would this be spongy?

*this was a few years back, but my hair should be pretty much the same

my hair gets wet very easily and has a teeny bit of shine, but it seems spongy. it takes FOREVER and a day to dry (at least 9 hours).

Heyy .. when we hold the hair taught [stupid question] should it be wet, damp or dry? [/stupid question].
I notice that my hair is low in pores..
It never really gets wet, the water just beads up on top and sits there..
Then it drips off.. my roots stayed wet for what, 15mins?? Then it got completely dry.
To be fair, I sealed the strands last night with cold water, then just wet it today with cold water.. so I'll do another test with warm water.
But the thing is, I did the strand test with room temp water..
It floated.. never sunk.
:(

Why does it seem spongy to you? Do you have to squeeze it to get wet?

and it seems like you have your hair under control since your hair is holding onto moisture,  that's a good sign...you may have your porosity under control...

My hair's still damp in all of these pics. I've gotten into the habit of stretching while washing and afterwards to air dry so I don't have any pics of it without the braid/twist outs

This morning bantu knot out with flash:

I'm still not sure, can I be typed? Smile

Based on the Andre System you seem to be 4a, but that alone isn't gonna get you far in finding what works for you... try analyzing how your hair behaves based on the OP to see what it truly is...

@Nike I did the stand in the cup of water test and they all stayed at the top-- never floating down. I also notice when I washed my hair (last night), it does of course get weighed down under the water but kinda puffs back up a little after most of the slides down when i move from under it. I tried to get a pic to see if there were many beads of water that formed but the pics kept coming out foggy lol

i don't really have to squeeze it, it gets wet pretty quickly just by letting water run through.i do squeeze to get some of the water out though.
