On Wednesday morning, Sandra and Al Alverson of Houston, Tex., received an email from FedEx with good news: Their new iPad Mini had been delivered, according to KHOU. Hooray for the holidays! Hooray for good cheer!
Only one problem: It was nowhere to be found. Luckily, the Alversons have an elaborate DVR recording system set up for just such an occasion.
Ends up, as the above YouTube footage shows, a temporary, seasonal worker hired by UPS, who delivered a separate package later that day, decided he just could not pass up the possibility of a free iPad Mini and nabbed it. After UPS found out, the company swiftly fired the holiday worker and promised to replace the iPad Mini, UPS spokeswoman Natalie Godwin told The Huffington Post. "The homeowner is satisfied," she added.
It's not just UPS that's struggled with the occasional delivery horror story, though. Just this month, a FedEx contract employee was caught ditching 435 packages. Before that, another FedEx delivery man was caught throwing a computer over a gate (not that the U.S. Postal Service hasn't been guilty of similarly terrible customer service before).
