coffee shops are fine when you know the person but on the first date all it does is give you too much opportunity for the conversation to go somewhere it shouldn't b/c there is no other distracting activity. i've never been on a coffee date when the guy didn't bring up something sexual. idk why that is.

I don't have an issue with a coffee shop. i actually sorta prefer it cus i be nervous about eating and then talking to a person.. i think ill have spinach in my teeth and grease rolling down my chin or something.
I don't have criteria for how a date must be...
Y'all don't get that it's just the principle of you stating that no matter what you would never pay more than "xxx" on a first date.

Or how about he's just a man that takes pride in being fiscally responsible. Maybe he has a date budget. Maybe he doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a woman he isn't exclusive with.

The fiscally responsible thing to do would be to not date. Or to save his money. Or, now this is really left-field, actually get to know her before taking her out so he can be comfortable spending more than $15. You know, have a phone conversation or two. Invite her out, not on a date, but as friends.
I know this may seem hard, but really, it isnt.
