I definately need this.

I wanted to try a color on the bottom of my 1b KC. I got a 20 developer and some Loreal Auburn Red. Left it on for at least an hour. Nothing happened. And it took forever to wash it out. Where did I go wrong?

I will start.......I have come to realize that when dying my own hair a permanent color is not needed......I am a jet black girl so instead I use a tinted gloss. Its not as harsh, gives an amazing color result, and it gives hair a really good shine.

You have to lighten the hair then deposit the color............and also for slight highlights up your volume level to a 40. I just purchased the Clairol Instant Whip and I will take some pics and  post my process if my idea actually works.LOLConfused

Most people use a 10-20 developer with bleach first for like 20 minutes and lift the color then use the actual color with a 10 developer to deposit.

Bleach is a risk......it can cause hair to tangle and mat...........a good moisture condish and you can try adding oil to the mixture...........I use Aphogee EFA oil, but it was discontinued.........try a BSS.....you may get lucky.
