So I treated my mom to this movie tonight since she likes TP films.
The movie was decent.. For Tyler Perry quality. But honestly the way it flows feels like all of his other films: the film takes an extravagant amount of time to set the setting, characters, and plot. But once the main plot actually starts happening, it gets rushed and then ends with a quickie ending. Not only that, but the way the man directs literally spoon feeds you everything so much so soon, you already know how the rest of the movie goes and are likely to get bored at some point.
Temptation had potential. But the execution was not as compelling as its base synopsis. Tyler Perry is not the compelling movie director he tries to portray himself as. In fact, I feel like the quality of his films could be compared to a beginner aspiring director in a film school because of how simple and basic the story lines tend to be and how the script and editing literally hold's the viewer's hand as the story progresses. Maybe I'm expecting too much but I was bored because there was nothing to contemplate, nothing to analyze, no design in scenery to compliment the scene itself, no subtleties to notice, etc. It's like the film equivalent of a TV dinner. A lot of his films have the quality of a TV movie.
Anyway, I'm glad he's giving other directors a shot because that Peeples movie actually looked entertaining!
