    Posted: Jan 13 2010 at 8:28pm
Hey I'm looking to get tree braids, I live in NYC and I plan to go on 125th street in harlem because I know it will be cheaper. I have gone down there a few years ago to get box braids so I know they do a good job. But I was wondering if they are actually skilled at doing tree braids tho. This technique is new to me so maybe it's new to them also? Idk... Has anyone ever got that style on 125th? If so do you have contact info for the shop or person? If you know any other cheap place (under 100) that does tree braids well. Please help me out and let me know. TIA

i'm curious about the answer to that because i've never seen that style listed on any advertisements from the hair braiding places on 125th.

along the nyc boat, does anyone know any places or people besides the african hair braiding shops that does twists? no matter how many times you tell them not too tight or not too small, they always manage to go against you...

yes I have had my hair done at both doneup and by my braider if you pm me I will show you pics of both. Doneup is great, its a salon and you get full service but its a little expensive....
my braider is excellent... and far less expesive ( but not full service and the shop is typical african on 125 people, kids, noisy, and you have to bring your own combs and have your hair cleaned/condiitoned and blown out..

I'm so glad someone posted this topic b/c i've been wondering about tree braids in nyc. The place that does my braids now is wonderful & the ladies are great but they don't know how to do them & i'd like to get my hair done.

My friend got her hair done by a girl in BK but I was not impressed so any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks ladies :-)
