There have been a few posts being created about Henna, so why not start a challenge?  I'm not good a setting up rules so if anyone is interested, let's try to henna at least twice a month.  Some of the benefits are:
1.  Seals cracks in cuticles
2.  Binds with keratin to make strands thicker
3.  Gives a slight reddish tint
4.  "Relaxes Afro Hair" and makes it silky
The more you henna the better for your hair, so I'll be the guinea pig if no one else wants to join....

I like the sound of this challenge!  it actually sounds doable.  I have never tried henna, but I LOVE to color my hair.  Some of my ancestors were Irish (waaaaaaaay back lol) so my grandma and her brothers and sisters had lots of freckles and red hair color.  I've always experimented with the color, but those permanent dyes are nothing nice on dry hair like mine.  Count me in!  Let's go over the rules.  Every two weeks...check.  Is there a special way to apply?  *murmuring* gotta do some henna research Smile

The main rule for safety's sake is to make sure that you are using body art quality henna.....I plan to do it bi-weekly.  You need to mix with something acidic like lemon juice, orange juice, vinegar, etc.  The henna needs to develop in a warm place for at least 12 hours.  I plan on leaving mine on for 6 hours and covering up some of this grey.....

So...there are 2 type of henna, one that colors and need acid to release color and one that you just add water to (neutral henna doesn't color).

I'll comit to the neutral cause I don't want dark red hair!  You need to add indigo and amla to make dark brown.

Okay, I just got some from the health food store.  I'm going to make it tomorrow and apply Saturday, taking massive before and after pics.  I found there are three types of henna, the kind we want (I believe, let me know if I'm wrong) is the Lawsonia alba or Lawsonia spinoza--which are really the same thing.
