I just got braids yesterday. They came out really nice. One thing I wanted to share is that you want to take good care of your edges while your braids are in.

i found that my hair grew the most when i had braids installed and lived with a friend of the family thats indian. she had a amla oil mix in her bathroom and i would wash and condition my hair with the most generic shampoo and conditioner. nothing special. supermarket brand in fact.as much as i wanted and then apply amla oil to my scalp and and hair. when it came to removing the braids there was literally no buildup. i had those braids in for almost 4 months and my hair grew so so much. i would recommend using some decent hair oil once a week. whilst you have your braids in

Hi - Anyone know what this twist pattern is called? And if this pattern is available to use using the crochet method?

So I just recently decided to do my box braids on myself.  It was my first time doing box braids and especially on my own head. They actually came out great!

Problem is: I accidentally used the 100% kanekalon braiding hair instead of the kind that's silky (usually for when you want the ends left down) so I need to burn the ends.

Will it ruin the braids if i burn them and then dip them in boiling water after?

Hey BeeLee91 I know that your hair should be hydrated and strong before braiding . Try deep conditioning with a protein and moisture balance. If your hair is feeling great afterwards then braid it up! If not, go by the feel of your hair. If it's too brittle, try more moisture. If it's too limp try more protein. It's more detailed than that so if you need some guidance, check out my YouTube channel for some tips. My name is 'A.KnottyCurl' . The video is called 'The Maximum Hydration Method. How I made it my own. ' hope this helps!

I'm about 3 months post relaxer and I was wondering how should I prep my hair for box braids. Also, I will be going abroad for 6 months so any tips and suggestions for me would be great.

Thanks! :)
