Right? But I like food so at least they brought me that. I'm trying to convince my mom she wants sushi tonight so I can get some seafood ramen.

Yeah but you know white folk...it wasn't a charity they cared about...they like to run just to run. It was my sis, her husband, his friends, and my mom.

They always think they know what's best for me as far as exercise and food...yeah ok and then when my feet and legs were all swelled up for the next 3 days all I said was I told you so and bring me some in & out.

Sometimes they are just so...typical. Vegan, gluten free, always stressed about trying to be skinny. I'm like, I'm gonna eat this here good pot of greens with hamhocks and be happy and don't say anything to me.

If ancestors could run from the deep south to places like Detroit, Chicago and Buffalo, then my expensive running shoe wearing- full meal having- whole night sleeping, self can run these 3 miles.

I also find visualization REALLY helpful. I imagine something where running is critical. I'm in a spy movie or running for that touchdown pass or whatever and when I do it I naturally run faster without even thinking about it.

Also, theres always that point around the end of mile one where I start to feel a burn where my body is tricking me into thinking I should stop but when I push through it actually gets a little easier. So I try to keep myself thinking about THAT phase and not the one I'm in where I wanna lay out on the street to catch my breath...

I walked a 5k several months ago and the only thing that kept me going was the fact that finishing was the only way to prove to my mother that it was a bad idea and she better not never ask me to do anything like that again.

That and pancakes. Pancakes were my mantra.

I don't use mantras per se, But I just tell myself that the pain is temporary. After an uphill, there's a down hill. Slowing down (or walking), isn't going to make the pain go away right at that moment anyway, so there's no point in doing it.

This might not be much help. lol
Good luck though, you'll kill it.
