I'm not really offended by parents making this choice for their kids and it's within our constitutional right but for me??
I don't think any child needs to handle a deadly weapon...just too much...we are way too lax about the power of guns.  I know how to use one now and I feel such a chill holding it.  kids can't drive, drink alcohol, wipe their own asses without leaving skidmarks, but we expect them to act responsibly with a weapon?  children should be educated on the dangers and proper uses of weapons, but does that mean they have to be trained to shoot one at the same time?  I think not...the lesson should be deterrence, especially if they find mommy or daddy's gun.  millions of adults go their entire lives without ever having to touch a gun or come in contact with one, so do we really want to live in the kind of society where we're teaching kids to kill fresh out the womb?  I don't know why they can't just start being hands on with the gun at 18, instead of 8.

These parents better watch out, because these kids are armed, and can come into their rooms at night.
They can take these guns to the darn playground. If they have a disagreement with someone, they don't have the mental maturity to talk things out...Yeah they're armed to the milk teeth.

Again....DUMB ARSES

A responsible parent don't let their kids have access to their guns unless one of the parents are supervising (for example at a gun range or hunting). If there's kids in the house all guns should be locked in a safe.

There are enough knuckle head kids going into schools, and other public places and going on a shooting rampage.   These same little "Angels" were thought how to use a gun, and handle it responsibly

i think kids should be educated about guns and know how to properly use them...

kids are curious...and a lot will be exposed to them at some point by their friends..peers etc
teaching kids how to properly use/load/unload them could help cut back on those stories you here about kids accidentally firing a gun and shooting themselves or someone else...

but i dont think at any time they should be given one to keep for personal use...jmo

Isn't there an age where children have not formed the ability to understand the permanence of death and the impact of the consequences for their actions?

Anyway, if I ever decided to buy kid sized firearms for my children they would be locked away safely when we aren't using them for sport together.

I remember my first rifle.
some of my best memories w/ dad are of our hunting trips. If he were still alive now, I'd be lecturing him during the entire hunt. lol

A most these gun get locked up....

My child will begin shooting at 10....idgaf what y'all say......

My point exactly. Why is it okay to put a deadly weapon in the hands of an 8, 10 or 12 year old, if we can't ensure they are responsible. They check adults who are supposedly more mature, and responsible.
Doesn't matter much as long as they keep this crap in the rural areas, and they will suffer the consequences among themselves.

There are plenty of ways to kill tho......go lock up ya steak knives....

True, but with a steak knife you have to get up close and personal.
However, a gun can be used from a distance with the shooter hidden. You may never see it coming.
