I did my own individual braids, and for a first timer I didn't do too bad.  It was time consuming, but I'm impressed with the outcome.  If I practice more, I'm sure I'll get better at it, with parting.  Next time, I want bigger braids.

what type of hair did you use and how many packs? i want to put in braids but i want them to look more on the natural side. i keep looking on youtube but i cant find anyone who has a tutorial on how i want mine done.

I used Realistic X-Pressions; they were $4.99 a pack.  I was told it takes about 4.5 packs, but I used 3 packs exactly.  The hair was very long (84 inches) - I cut it in half.  They're considered small, but neat.  I want to do some bigger ones in the fall/winter.

How do you want yours?

You have to do your research.
There are a million bhm threads on the techinique with detailed instructions, pics, etc.

MrsYahYah invented the technique and taught us in 2006:

I used to cut the baby hair down to 1/3", then I'd put nair on the baby hairs to let them get really wispy like true baby hair and it would fall into place as the day progressed without being bold and noticeable. I think that bhm member Ashley's Mom taught us that technique. I'll tag you on ig on one of my old lace pix later.

Im not going to hijack, I'll post about the other topic in the random
comment thread

For me, gelled down baby hair will remain a foggy memory from 1988. I love vintage fashion, but that's not for me. In my lace master days, I never gelled down the lace baby hair either.
