I totally understand. I stopped getting sew ins years ago bc I could not take it. If a person has a few low maintenance to rotate, there is no such thing as a bad hair day.

Yes my head got too itchy and irritated, the install was nice, I tried the frontal, but the hair (provided by the stylist) was CRAP, total crap. Thank goodness I have one closure wig to spare with some good hair on it. I took out all of the hair this morning, I'll be making another closure wig asap.

this is petty as hell but in annoys me when i watch movies set in the distant past/future and suddenly whypipo are wearing braids and cornrows like thats their culture. bitch stop! we dont believe you. whypipo hair does not nature and neatly go in to braids and cornrows without work and it sure as hell wouldnt be natural for them to do it.

Lol her hair is nowhere near locked. Those are basically comb coils. It's going to change a lot in the next year.

I read an article that seemed credible that said that color varies according to the actual variation in the tree it comes from. The color is regional (think about how Georgia & NC pecans taste different from pecans from other regions), but yes, some shea is definitely artificially colored.

My friend/professional braider gives me a jar of shea as a gift every time that her family sends her some and it is pale beige like cocoa butter, but only slightly brighter.

I think you are right NJ. In the video I saw the shea butter was bright yellow as it was being naturally processed. The youtuber probably thought all fresh shea butter is the same bright shade when it really depends on the source. It does get lighter and eventually white as it ages, though, and I can personally attest to that.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about locs and I can't stop watching youtube vids. I spent $160 to get my hair braided last week, smh. I typically do it every 3 months now because my hairbraider does them really well for me, I maintain them well and they last but I really don't think I want to keep spending so much money on my hair Angry. She tells me she charges other pple a lot more but reduces for me (I was her very first customer when she moved here from the uk 4 yrs ago and have been going to her since). She herself locked her hair last year and  they've grown nicely. She says she gets a lot of compliments on them. She went to a Loctician to get them done last year, comb coils, and still goes to her monthly to get them maintained. My hairstylist can braid like nobody's business so I was surprised when she says she goes to someone to maintain them for me. I guess that's why each each loc on her head is really defined, tho.
