one of the guys was her brother, not son. And she lost her job at an ice cream parlor--oh well...
Actual, full-on Halloween bigotry is thankfully rare, but when it
erupts, it’s truly shocking. The most flagrant example of this so far
are William Filene and Greg Cimeno
pair of Floridians who had the brilliant idea to dress up as murdered
teen Trayvon Martin — Filene, in full-cork blackface and a hoodie with a
bloody bullet hole — and self-appointed security guard George Zimmerman
— Cimeno, in a t-shirt with the misspelled slogan “NEIGHBORHOO WATCH.”
After Cimeno’s sister Caitlin
posted images of herself gleefully posing
with the duo, accusations of racism began to pour in, leading Filene and
the Cimenos to defiantly defend the costumes as “hilarious” — until the
furor hit the mainstream media. Then they quickly slammed shut their
Facebook accounts. But not before Greg Cimeno’s carpentry business
website was defaced by cybervandals and Caitlin Cimeno lost her job at a
local ice cream parlor.
