while i think it's a bit extra fanfare than needed, i think it's a good idea. it celebrates and informs a young woman of what is happening to her body.

having such discussions keeps the lines of communication open and fosters trust/a bond between mother/father and daughter. not to mention, it also cuts down on body/sexual shaming.

why would it be $40 though?

I got a set but it didn't cost all that! It was nice but by the time I could use it, the kit was lost in the mess of my room

I like this blog my friend wrote on the commercial

http://charlesclymer.blogspot.com/2013/07/camp-gyno-critics-of-shame-free-period.html

Seems like their goal was to get rid of the stigma associate with periods turning it from "gross don't talk about that" to a simple every day fact of life. So little girls don't feel ashamed for having a working uterus.

i think it's a cute idea, but its missing basic sh*t like painkillers and chocolate. and its prob. not enough supplies.

my mom didn't let us use tampons b/c she said it would take our virginity and give us pleasure. i told her that was the last thing i was thinking when i was on my period.

I'm just mad be cause I didn't think of marketing this idea first. I wouldn't buy it but I think it'll sell well.

We got them in school too, I was soo excited to finally get to use mine. Until the cramps started. I will do this for my child but I wouldn't pay that much. Sometimes black people are too hard and uncaring.  I was thinking about how the things I do for my daughter seem weird to other black kids, the other day her friend asked me why do we have board games. I told her because we have family game night, she looked at us like we were aliens. I cried for her that night.

$35?! No...I like the idea though, but would diy..I do remember being horrified when my mom told me of the change to come...I had started growing breasts. (Just thought I had mosquito bites CryEmbarrassed)I thought my mom had lost it when she explained about it coming every month. Like who wants that?? But I think I will make a pack like that for my little girl when the time comes. Not buying one like that.

I think it was a good idea. Not everyone has a decent mom to go to. And some of the girls didn't read that book. They were frequently caught off guard, didn't change or just didn't care.

^^^This...We got these packages in school all of the girls. We used to get the  nice pads with the perfume and stuff but when I got home all my mom would get were those hard ass sofa pillows they called pads. Tampons were made to 'disvirgin' young girls my mom said.

Soon as I started working doing summer youth and getting my own money it was Tampons ever since.

And No I ain't buying no $35 care package. I'll pack a bag with summer eve cooch deodorant, pads with wings, wipes and a bottle of advil.
