My mother used to make something called bochinche (Bachinchay)

It was like a mashup of meals, but omfg I still do a little happy dance when I think about it...

It was spaghetti with steak and black beans with some shredded cabbage in a vinaigrette sauce with potato chips on the side

LOL

I used to go to school telling my friends about it, and they had no clue wtf I was talking about.

I'd come back home and she'd tell me "They won't know unless they're Costa Rican--it's something we used to make growing up back home."

Iono...I think she made the name up, cuz that ish means "gossip" in spanish...

My dad makes this dish called jagacida. Basically its rice and peas. I HATEEE peas, but I love me some Jag.

My mom used to heat up some Elgin Sausage (the best sausage in Texas!) and make macaroni. omg the bestttttttttttttttttt.

And whenever my mom made false alarm chili with tortillas, you know I was at the dinner table.
