Yes, but men and women ... are different. It's always easier for men to lose weight. It's because they are men. Besides men are trying to lose fat to bulk up on the muscle department .. but most women are trying to lose fat to slim down. Different.

Yes, lower carb diets work ... only the thing is .. you have to stick to them too .. like forever. At some point you will start to crave bread or rice or whatever ... and once you start .. it's hard to go back to a low carb way of living. Hard ... I am talking long term, not a few weeks or months.

That's the Atkins diet. Tried it too. It's a trick. You only are allowed 20 - 30 or so carbs per day ... and this includes the healthy carbs like an orange or an apple. There are 25 carbs in apple! Ohh that drove me nuts.

So you have to spend the rest of your life playing this game of trying to avoid ANY carbs but the National food something something says you need 6 - 7 veggies and fruits a day (for many reasons).

Again once you have that pizza .. your body grabs on to those calories and pounds for dear life.

Besides when you have so few carbs ... you can't work out much - all. Do you know how many thin women are on the edge of a heart attack etc .. because they have not stressed their heart via exercise and they are so starved of nutrients that the body is feeding off itself way too much?

I hate to deflate the OP. I know it's great to lose all that weight. I am just saying it's the wrong way to lose it and it messes up your metabolism in the long run.

Sorry but it's just not sustainable.

Besides the OP is not on a low carb diet - she is on a NO carb diet and will soon transition to a very low carb diet.

I say, stop playing a game with your metabolism I'VE BEEN THERE and just stick to a WW sort of diet which IS SUSTAINABLE for the rest of your life.

If there is one thing that I would like to 'do over' in life .. it's my approach to weight loss. Alll those fad diets have broken my rubber band (metabolism) so it's sooo hard for me now. Cry The only thing I can do is eat a WW type of menu (which allows for a couple of fun meals on the weekend) and EXERCISE like ALL HECK  to speed up my metabolism because it's so slow now.

Take a lesson Ladies. Do not follow these fad diets.

Absolutely correct!!

I think I have f' ed up my metabolism from going on these type of diets for so many years.

You are basically starving yourself on this all protien diet.

The second you have regular carbs again .. and you have to have carbs to live .. you will gain that lost weight back PLUS a couple of extra pounds. This is how you diet yourself UP to a size 16.

In fact, if you stay with all protien diets ... eventuallly you will starve to death. Now you won't be hungry so it's not that kind of starving but your body will be depleted from the nutrients it needs. So .. say you were on a desert island and all you ate was fish ... eventually you would die of malnutrition.

I  have tried every diet there is but the only thing that really works is:

- plenty of water. A gallon plus a day is good
- regular exercise. For me 1 hour a day (1 day a week off)
- plenty of lean protien, eggs, veggies, fruits, nuts, wheat bread ... other foods in small amounts like just 1 cookie .. not the whole package.

The best program is Weight Watchers which allows a little bit of everything. Do this regularly and you will lose weight such that if you have a burger from McDonalds or a candy bar every now and then ... it will not throw your body into hysteria and cause it to boomerrang back on with the weight.

I am talking all big and brave but yes, I still struggle with the 3 points above because it's hard to stay focused. Confused

Is this a short term goal?? Because I don't get why you would kill yourself like this and than stuff your face with Pizza Hut junk food...becoming healthy is a life long commitment. No short cuts...enjoy your very short lived weight loss.

good idea! thanks.

i second that. i think i might alternate salmon and tuna though throughout the week. i love tuna but i don't want it to start making me smell or taste weird or something. u know how bodies take on essence over time when consuming lots of one thing.
